Why?

The Community Clothes Closet provides free clothing, blankets,towels and household essentials to people in need while maintaining their dignity and offering opportunities to improve their lives. Since opening our door thirty years ago, we have distributed over five million clothing items to those in need right here in your community. In 2001, the Community Clothes Closet distributed 185,000 items of clothing. Last year that number reached nearly 400,000.

With the recent economic downturn, poverty numbers are escalating, driving up the numbers of those seeking our help. In 2010 we enrolled 1,254 new families with 1,480 families renewing for an additional year. The Community Clothes Closet has been challenged for some time with serving a growing client population within its limited space. The space constraints, however, have now reached a critical point.

We’re now committed to the vital task of raising the funds to cover construction and fixtures.
